The Technical Committee of Chess in Hama held the final assembly competitions for the governorate championship in the men’s category, with the participation of 14 players who represented the various clubs practicing the game, on the grounds of the Martyr Nasih Alwani Sports Hall.
The results of the tournament resulted in the player Ali Zahra winning the first place, followed by Hussein Zaid second and Malek Al-Bitar third, while Ahmed Koja ranked fourth.
The international referee, Ali Al-Khatib, told SANA reporter that the tournament took place according to the Swiss system of five rounds and was of a strong level and witnessed strong competitions between the players to achieve advanced positions that qualify them to participate with the Hama team in the Republic Championship for the current season, indicating that the chess game in the governorate is constantly developing due to the presence of a strong base As a result of the interest of most clubs, especially Salama, in promising talents at an early age.
