Big offensive in terms of Defis

The municipality of Sulzemoos is equipped with defibrillators across the board.

"The handling of the devices is child's play", says Mayor Johannes Kneidl and has organized citizen training.

There was great interest at the kick-off event in Sulzemoos.

Sulzemoos - Sometimes minutes make the difference between life and death.

For example, when ventricular fibrillation occurs, which leads to sudden cardiac death in thousands of cases throughout Germany every year.

Then you need a defibrillator.

A defibrillator can stop cardiac arrhythmias such as ventricular fibrillation and flutter through electric shocks.

The municipality of Sulzemoos has installed a total of five so-called Automated External Defibrillators (AED) in all districts.

Even laypeople can use it to save lives in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest.

Because the modern devices are easy to use for everyone and guide the user through the resuscitation with voice support.

With free training courses in all districts, citizens can now find out about the devices and try them out for themselves, thereby overcoming any reservations.

25 interested people came to the Sulzemoos fire station for the kick-off event.

Michael Karlstetter, head of training at the BRK district association in Dachau, showed in an entertaining and humorous way how to react correctly in an emergency.

In addition to how the defibrillator works, he also explained how to behave if a person collapses unconscious or you find an unconscious person.

And, of course, all participants were able to practice the correct movements for successful cardiopulmonary resuscitation with the help of a defibrillator under expert guidance.

“You can find yourself in a situation where you need this knowledge at any time.

Not just at home, but also at work, during sports or in our free time,” says Johannes Kneidl.

It was only three years ago that it became apparent how life-saving knowledge of first aid and a defibrillator can be.

In July 2019, a 62-year-old player collapsed on the tennis court in Sulzemoos and was successfully resuscitated by teammates and a spectator (we reported).

"And last week, a person's life was saved with the help of a defibrillator in Einsbach," reported Kneidl at the most recent municipal council meeting.

The devices can be recognized by the green wall containers labeled “AED” or a heart symbol.

In Einsbach and Wiedenzhausen, defibrillators were attached to the north side of the fire department equipment houses.

In the district of Orthofen there is an AED on the north side of the main building of Pension Fried.

In Sulzemoos, the devices were installed on the east side of the town hall (large car park) and on the north side of the sports center (near the car park).

“The defis are operational and can be used at any time.

They are self-explanatory,” emphasizes the head of the town hall.

More training

take place on the following days from 7 p.m. to around 9 p.m.: Monday, May 23, inn at the inn in Orthofen (Sankt-Helena-Straße 13);

Wednesday, May 25th, fire station Wiedenzhausen (Orthofener Straße 2);

Tuesday, May 31, Einsbach fire station (Brucker Straße 23 b).
