A festival weekend is coming up for the Mintraching fire department: from May 27th to 29th the fire department will be celebrating its 150th birthday.

Mintraching

– It's the year 1872. In Mintraching committed men get together and found the volunteer fire brigade.

150 years later: It is the year 2022. Committed men and women have organized an anniversary weekend that has it all: the noise of the Isar, Kinseher and a festive Sunday.

From May 27th to 29th, things will get hot in Mintraching.

Three years ago, the first considerations were made as to how the anniversary of the Mintrachinger Floriansjünger could be celebrated in a dignified manner.

Two years ago it became concrete, a festival committee was founded with the recently elected board member Stephan Oberauer at the top.

He was diligent and pushed ahead with the planning even during the corona pandemic.

And so, 150 years after the founding of the FFW Mintraching, a series of events took place in the marquee at Kirchenstraße 23 and in Mintraching that the founding fathers could not have imagined.

37 firefighters in the founding year

The Mintraching fire brigade had 37 members in its founding year, with Ludwig Manhart as the captain.

The sparse documents from the first few years report on a major fire in 1904 on Kirchenstrasse.

After all, damage limitation was possible.

An important year, which of course brings a smile today, is 1929: the Mintraching fire brigade was able to afford a motor-driven fire engine from its own resources and without any financial help from the community.

Manufactured by the Irlbeck-Rieder company, it was the "Sieger" type, which had a whopping 14 hp and cost a whopping 3250 Reichsmarks.

After that, a lot is in the dark due to a lack of documents, but it is known that the Mintrachinger Wehr was in action in the state capital in the Second World War after the air raids on Munich.

Morgue was once the tool house

The records start again in 1949: So we know that the oldest known tool house was today's mortuary in the church cemetery.

At that time, of course, it was still separated from the cemetery by a wall and was only added to the Gottesacker as part of the expansion of the cemetery.

Therefore, the FFW devices had to move in 1952 and found a new home in the Waaghäusl north of the war memorial.

In 1952 something also took place that must have been a special kind of fun: a "water polo fight" between the fire brigades from Mintraching and Hallbergmoos on the occasion of the 80th founding celebration of the Mintrachinger Wehr.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.

Then in 1963 the new fire engine came to Mintraching, the portable fire engine trailer was used by the colleagues from Neufahrn.

Six years later, in 1969, construction began on the fire station on the corner of Dorfstrasse and Am Einfang. It was occupied in 1970 and served faithfully until the end of 2004 – even without heating and sanitary facilities.

The first car rolled into the yard in 1971

1971 was another big day for the vehicle fleet: On May 3rd, the company's first fire engine rolls into the yard, an LF 8 - also used by the Neufahrn fire brigade.

A year later, the 100th birthday of the Mintrachinger weir was celebrated extensively over two days.

It would take another 15 years before the next major event was due: In November 1987, the fire brigade from Mintraching received the first new fire engine.

The fire-fighting vehicle LF 8 with front-mounted pump, emergency power generator & Co. was the new pride of the fire department.

The fire at the Gasthof Holzner in Grüneck on May 19, 1991 is one of the most unpleasant events in the history of the Mintraching fire department. Six other fire departments from the area came with around 140 men to save 30 people and prevent the fire from spreading to the prevent neighboring buildings.

No one was injured, but property damage amounted to millions.

Sad, because the Holzner had been the clubhouse of the Mintrachinger fire brigade for many years.

Lots of discussion about the new fire station

A real milestone can be recorded in the history books for the years 2003 to 2005: After years of sometimes controversial discussions, the ground-breaking ceremony for the new fire station took place on July 3, 2003 in the garden of the old school building.

After the topping-out ceremony on October 18, 2003 and 11,000 hours of work that the Florian disciples and the village community had contributed to, the new domicile and the freshly renovated "old school building" were inaugurated on July 31, 2005 as a meeting point for the village community.

Since then, the fire brigade association has been responsible for and thus the owner of the school building, and the building has been a home for numerous groups and clubs ever since.

The next important date is April 2010, when the 10/6 fire engine will be put into service.

With this vehicle, the Mintraching fire brigade has had a water-carrying vehicle for the first time since then, which allows fire-fighting operations to begin without having to set up an external water supply beforehand.

Now, twelve years later, they also have a new crew transporter, for which from September 2021 - again with the help of numerous helpers who contributed around 1000 hours of work - an extension was built to house the new transporter.

Family celebration on the anniversary Sunday

The new car will be officially blessed and handed over on Sunday, May 29th, as part of the festive service on the square in front of the fire station.

Around 20 clubs have been invited to the jubilee festival, which starts at 8 a.m. with the reception of the clubs, continues with a church procession and after the service from around 2 p.m. offers a large fire brigade exhibition with vehicle show and demonstrations: The THW will be on site with companions , as well as the Weihenstephan plant fire brigade and the airport fire brigade, the police will be there - probably with a helicopter.

There is also a lot for the children to do.

Sunday should be a real family celebration.

Already on Friday, May 27th, the Wehr invites you to the Isarrauschen party with DJ BigLHorst in the festival hall at Kirchenstrasse 23 (from 8 p.m.) and on Saturday, May 28th, the well-known artist Luise Kinseher will fire off cabaret fireworks there ( Tickets for 24 euros are available in the Meidinger Hofladen and on Tel. 01 70/8 15 86 04).
