In Rodgau (Offenbach district), a man in his apartment was apparently attacked with a knife and set on fire.
First responders experience traumatic scenes.
Rodgau – Apparently, a horrific crime occurred late on Friday evening (May 20) in Rodgau in the Offenbach district.
A man is said to have been stabbed in his apartment and then set on fire by a previously unknown perpetrator, the 5Vision portal said.
First responders who found the man on fire called the fire department, according to the portal.
The seriousness of the crime was already apparent when emergency services arrived.
"The burning person and the fire in the ground floor apartment were immediately extinguished," the news service reported.
Police investigators later discovered severe injuries to the man who was killed, which were probably inflicted by a knife.
Initially, there was a possibility that the perpetrator was hiding in the family home, as 5Vision said, citing information from the police.
Police officers with heavy weapons and in protective clothing then broke open the doors of the victim's apartment, as reported by op-online.de.

As can be seen in the pictures, several objects from the victim's apartment were lying on the ground in front of the apartment building.
Among other things, a burned mattress and sheets could be seen.
It is currently unclear how the crime could have happened.
As reported by 5vision.media, the emergency services were on duty around the clock.
A forensics team is also on site.
The crime scene stretched over several floors.
Other residents would not have been allowed to enter their apartments for the time being.
A care center has been set up for first-aiders in a neighboring discounter car park.
The information has not yet been officially confirmed.
The investigative authorities could not be reached on Saturday morning (May 21) when asked.
