Latakia-SANA
The Syrian Trust for Development announced the start of disbursing the productive development loan in the Al-Haffah area in the countryside of Lattakia for the 132 projects, in order to complete the first phase of the productive development loan product for those affected by the fires that swept thousands of acres of agricultural and forest lands in the countryside of Lattakia in the fall of 2020.
The secretariat explained in a statement published today on its Facebook page that the first phase of the productive development loan product aims to finance 500 productive projects in Lattakia, Jableh, Qardaha, and Al Haffa.
The Secretariat indicated that this step comes with the continuation of the work of the joint committee of representatives of the National Bank for Microfinance and the Secretariat to grant loans in Jableh and Lattakia, noting that the necessary funding has been disbursed for 75 productive projects worth 146 million and 500 thousand Syrian pounds distributed among 50 productive projects in Lattakia with a value of 97 million Syrian pounds and 25 productive projects in Jableh with a total value of 49 million and 500 thousand Syrian pounds, and work is underway to disburse the remaining applications in the two branches.
The secretariat indicated that the projects that were approved for funding varied between the cultivation of crops of “olive and lemon” trees, seasonal vegetables, greenhouses, tobacco, wild thyme, mushrooms, trees and grape leaves, in addition to raising animals such as bees, sheep, cows, raising birds and fisheries, and projects that support irrigation and agricultural requirements such as dairy, cheese and juice distillation.
The secretariat pointed out that the productive development loan, which it launched last April, finances existing or emerging projects and provides their owners with opportunities for further development and financial collection in order to achieve the social development goal in those areas to lead them to sustainable development.
