Tartous-Sana
The members of the fire brigade in Tartous governorate put out a fire that broke out today in a land planted with wheat on the border between the properties of the villages of Al-Rehaniyah and Zahid in the countryside of the governorate.
The commander of the Tartous fire brigade, Colonel Samir Shamma, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the fire destroyed about 4 hectares of land planted with wheat.
Shamma pointed out that 14 fires broke out in Tartous governorate today, but most of them were of limited size and the damage was limited to materials, pointing out that the fires spread in the Baniyas and Tartous Industrial Area and Reyhanli affiliated to the municipality of Safsa, Safita, Jisr Al-Mentar, Al-Radar, and Qumso.
He explained that the proximity of fire trucks to the fire areas, the speed of response and the support of the local community contributed to alleviating the danger of fires and not spreading them over large areas despite the dry and strong winds.
Shamma called on citizens not to throw cigarette butts, not to set fires in agricultural lands, to monitor them by their owners, and to report any fire as quickly as possible by calling 113 or 188.
