(ANSA) - PALERMO, 21 MAY - For thirty years she was simply remembered as the wife of Giovanni Falcone and represented in the few public images with a smiling face next to that of the judge who symbolically represented the fight against the mafia.

Now the figure of Francesca Morvillo comes out of the shadow in which she was long relegated and, thirty years after the astrage, she takes the place that belongs to her as a female magistrate, a jurist attentive to the rehabilitation function of the sentence, a person engaged on a social level and cultural.

This was the "wife of Falcone", torn with him in the attack on Capaci, in the summons of Minister Marta Cartabia who will participate on Monday at Palazzo Steri in a meeting organized by the University of Palermo.

L'

the occasion is given by the presentation of a volume on Francesca Morvillo, "Non solo peramore", published by Treccani and edited by three university professors: Giovanna Fiume, Paola Maggio and Cetta Brancato.

Another book published in recent days on Morvillo ("Francesca, a story of a love in times of war", Solferino publisher) was written by the journalist Felice Cavallaro.

The volume published by Treccani also reports Francesca Morvillo's graduation thesis on "Rule of law and security measures".

It is a work involving several voices, which reconstructs different phases and moments in her life as a jurist but also illuminates her humanity, her confidentiality, her personality.

In the intentions of scholars, friends and colleagues who sign various essays, it aims to do justice to the only magistrate victim of mafia violence.

Her life path is reconstructed from the years of maturity through the degree, achieved very young in 1967, and the competition in magistracy passed brilliantly.

Daughter and sister of magistrates, his experience of her began as a judicial auditor in Palermo and continued as a judge of the court of Agrigento in 1971,

The judgments that mark the stages of her career underline the human and professional qualities of Francesca Morvillo that precisely because of the role she played, as we are beginning to admit, she was not in Capaci by chance or only for the love she gave her to Falcone, which blossomed right in the palace of justice and long kept confidential.

The historian Giovanna Fiume has reconstructed her work by re-reading reports, notes from the managers of various judicial offices, certificates, sentences issued by colleges of which Francesca Morvillo had been a member.

And among these was also the one who had judged Vito Cianciminon in the trial for the large contracts of Palermo.

For this Giovanna Fiume, overturning an abused canon, comes to the conclusion that "a magistrate was killed before a wife".

And Minister Cartabia, who signed the introduction of the volume, agrees: "a woman and a professional daughter of her Sicily" were killed.
