Fill up on electricity cheaper thanks to trade

from which everyone should benefit.

Behind the complicated word "greenhouse gas reduction quota trading" lies a clever way for municipalities to receive subsidies for the expansion of electromobility.

The municipality of Hohenbrunn does not want to miss this opportunity.

Ilona von Schaubert, the municipal climate protection manager, explains how it all works.

"You get a subsidy because the energy sold by electric charging stations is claimed in retail".

she says.

Hohenbrunn currently has four stations with eight charging points.

It is planned to expand the offer to 18.

Customers can benefit from cheaper tariffs

Von Schaubert has calculated that the annual purchase of a charging point is 3100 kWh.

Hohenbrunn also has two purely electrically operated vehicles, with a third to be added this year.

If Hohenbrunn participates in the greenhouse gas reduction quota trade, a reimbursement of 4,500 euros can be expected this year.

The amount could even increase to around 10,000 euros per year in the future.

Hohenbrunn does not want to enrich herself from this, assures the climate protection manager: "We take part in the trade, but we will give the profit back to the customer one-to-one." Ultimately, a cheaper tariff could then be offered.

This should make the use of electromobility more attractive.

Local councils are critical

In the environment and climate committee, the topic was viewed critically, as there was a certain skepticism about action.

Especially since the administration has suggested handing over the application and marketing to third parties, since there is no empirical value for marketing such certificates.

Ultimately, however, the climate protection manager's proposal was approved.
