The town hall planning was also a topic at the Rottach citizens' meeting.

It took place again after a two-year Corona break - in front of a small audience.

Rottach-Egern

- "Even though the pandemic has changed our everyday life and we had to deal with restrictions, little contact and a succumbing to club life, we were still able to implement a lot." its report for 2020 and 2021.

Only 40 visitors were drawn to the Seeforum on Thursday evening for the first town hall meeting after a two-year Corona break.

No comparison to the otherwise high level of interest and usually well-filled room.

Köck said: a tribute to the current small corona wave, but also to the summer weather that kept farmers and hosts away.

The mayor had a lot to report from two years.

So from the new town hall.

The municipal council unanimously decided that the old one should be demolished and a new one should be built in the same place.

“The elected officials are responsible.

I stand by it and rely on my local council,” explained Köck the decision in favor of new construction and contra renovation.

Now is the time to do something, he said with a view to the decades-long decision-making phase.

"Contribution is welcome!"

With a view to the desire of the traffic and beautification association to create a forecourt, the mayor made it expressly clear: "Contribution is welcome!" But it is the town hall itself that is important, not the trappings.

The administrative headquarters should be functional and at the same time fit into the townscape.

The town hall is allowed to set back a bit, but according to Köck, a large forecourt would reduce the value of the town hall compared to the other buildings on the main street.

It would no longer be so representative.

Köck was confident of finding a good solution together.

This will then be given to the planner.

Preserve the property behind the town hall for the future

The community wants to hold back the property behind the town hall, which is increasing in value every year.

"We will not block our development opportunities." Who knows how work will be done in 30 years and what needs will arise?

In the end, Köck advertised: “Have trust in us.

We look forward to building a modern and beautiful town hall.”

On the subject of construction and affordable housing, he reported on the plans to create three community apartments on the top floor of the Falianhaus.

Another new community center in Haslau and a local housing project for two pairs are also being planned.

In addition, a new, fenced-in children's playground will be built at the soccer field in Valepperstraße, and a multi-generational fitness park will be built in the Birkenmoos sports facility.

Rumors about Wallberg retirement home

The audience asked about the Wallberg retirement home.

There are rumors about a new owner who has renovation plans.

In his answer, the mayor kept a low profile - at least as far as the name of the new owner was concerned.

"Yes, there will be massive changes," said Köck.

However, the municipality has specified the type of use in an urban development contract.

It is also stipulated that the prices should be "in a feasible segment for ordinary people": "We are not aiming for a luxury property."

Appeal for better coexistence between locals and second home residents

In general, Köck campaigned for better coexistence between second home residents and locals.

The latter should not be displaced, which is why second homes are not allowed in all districts.

However, the second home owners would also make their contribution to the community through the second home tax, explained Köck.

They shouldn't be underestimated any more than the day-trippers and guests: "They were dealt with quite nicely during Corona." Köck noted that neither the clothes nor the license plate number could tell who you were looking at.

Köck asked to be polite.

In the valley, people will be "happy and grateful again" when people come to the forest festivals.

On the subject of tourism, however, he also stated: "We do not need increasing eventization."

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Tegernsee newsletter.
