, The head of the northern faction of the Islamic Movement, Sheikh Raed Salah, was detained this afternoon (Saturday) at the airport after trying to travel to Turkey for meetings with the Shura Council and a visit to the Islamic Research Center.
He arrived at the airport accompanied by his men and when he arrived at the passport checkpoint he was told that there were restraining orders against him - an order from the Ministry of the Interior from 2017 and an order from the court in Haifa from 2018.
Sheikh Raed Salah's defense attorney, Omar Khamisi, told Israel Today:
The first order, exists since 2017, and was supposed to be revoked because he had already gone to jail and was serving his sentence.
Tomorrow he will go to court and ask for clarification regarding the orders that are against him even though he wanted his sentence in both cases.
We will also ask for clarifications from the Ministry of the Interior about the second order, which was supposed to be revoked, and we will find out why he was not presented to the sheikh at the moment of leaving the country.
