Prime Minister Weil leads SPD in state elections

Lower Saxony's Prime Minister Stephan Weil is leading the Social Democrats in the state elections in autumn.
At a state representative meeting on Saturday in Hildesheim, he was elected number one on the list with 100 percent of the 188 votes cast.
There was no opposing candidate.
It would be the third term for the 63-year-old.
The election will take place on the 9th.
Hildesheim - October in the fourth most populous federal state.
Recent polls saw the possibility of a coalition between the SPD and the Greens - in this constellation, Weil governed in his first term.
His party currently governs the state with the CDU.
It is considered agreed that this coalition should not be continued if possible.
