The closing day of the “Children’s Education Package” project targeting school dropouts implemented by the Directorate of Education in Al-Hasakah Governorate and the Norwegian Refugee Council in Abdul Rahman Mahboub School included artistic and recreational activities and the distribution of bags to the participating students.
The Director of Education, Ilham Surkhan, stated in a statement to SANA reporter that during the project, 150 school dropouts from the Abdul Rahman Mahboub School in the city of Hasaka were targeted during the project, by teaching them the main educational materials with the aim of compensating them for educational losses in the subjects “Arabic, English, Mathematics and Science.” In addition to applying the activities of the “Towards Better Learning” program that enhance their educational attainment.
Surkhan pointed out that the closing day witnessed the attendance of a number of students' parents and included the presentation of several lyrical and theatrical performances and an exhibition of handicrafts in which the targeted students participated, and ended with the distribution of bags, stationery and a personal hygiene basket for each student.
A similar activity was also carried out targeting dropout students at Zaki Al-Arsuzi School in Qamishli, where Amer Al-Abdullah, Head of the Planning and International Cooperation Department in the Directorate of Education in Al-Hasakah, stated that the “children’s education package” program targeted the fourth and fifth grade students in the school, noting that it was during the educational cycle that lasted. Three months to provide activities in mathematics and Arabic to enable students who have dropped out of them.
