World Health Organization: Fear of monkey pox spreading with early summer
To the full article
The new viral disease is bothering health organizations in different countries, mainly due to its ability to pass from human to human, unlike in the past.
This morning the World Health Organization updated that more than 80 cases of monkey pox have been diagnosed in at least 12 countries around the world.
Yesterday, the organization said that 50 more suspicious cases are currently being investigated - without specifying the names of the countries where the cases were diagnosed - and warned that more and more cases will be reported in the coming days.
Cases have so far been diagnosed in nine European countries, as well as in the United States, Canada, Australia and Israel - where there is a risk of a sick person.
Monkey pox is especially common in remote areas of Central and West Africa.
The disease is a non-serious viral infection that usually heals within a few weeks.
The virus does not spread easily between people, and the danger to the general public is very low.
