The President of the Donetsk People's Republic Denis Pushilin confirmed the presence of foreign mercenaries among the Ukrainian Nazis who surrendered after Russian forces surrounded them at the Azovstal factory in Mariupol.
"According to preliminary information, there were foreign mercenaries," Pushilin said in a statement to Soloviev Live, in response to a question about the presence of foreigners among the Nazis who surrendered in Azovstal, noting that after the work of specialists there will be information to be disclosed.
Pushilin pointed out that six militants were killed in Azovstal while trying to detonate ammunition depots before seizing them.
Yesterday, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced the end of the operation to liberate Mariupol after the surrender of Ukrainian forces and Nazi extremists at the Azovstal plant.
