Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU) thanked the emergency services and volunteers after the massive damage caused by tornadoes in the east of North Rhine-Westphalia.

"There are frightening pictures that you see here, an enormous extent of destruction," said Wüst on Saturday in Paderborn.

Paderborn – He announced that the state government would also examine help in the next few days.

A lot will be insured.

"And where there is a need, we will examine exactly how we can help," said the CDU politician.

There is also damage to public infrastructure.

"And it's a small miracle that no one has died as a result of this great damage," said Wüst.

Thoughts are now with the injured, with the people who lost their homes or suffered serious property damage from the storm on Friday.
