The government's Temporary Unemployment Support Scheme has not yet completed the processing of all applications. Recently, a number of political parties have reported that citizens have been rejected for no reason but have no chance to explain, and the approval criteria are unclear.

Tang Jiabiao, a member of the Legislative Council of the Federation of Trade Unions, said that last week, he set up his own platform for citizens who intend to appeal to provide information. So far, more than 600 cases have been received, and about two-thirds of them involve the situation of "colleagues have been approved, but they have no share". .

He asked the government to be lenient and expedite the processing of appeals, and to use the surplus from the sixth round of the Anti-epidemic Fund to try to approve all employees who are eligible or worthy of support.

The Policy Innovation and Coordination Office said the other day that it would establish an appeal channel via email and telephone hotline, but Deng Jiabiao believes that the more important thing is whether the government can be lenient and speed up the handling.

He pointed out that since the "Deng Jiabiao Electronic Appeal Form" was publicly established last Monday, as of the early morning of today (May 22), 666 appeals have been received.

Among the reasons for the refusal by the government, 32% were still working on the day of application; 28% were due to failure to submit the information within the specified time or the information did not match; 12% were ineligible for last year’s income ($2,700 to $30,000); 5% were applications 3% were unemployed for less than 30 consecutive days; 2% were and were employed in designated restricted premises; the rest were varied, with the main points of contention being voluntary shutdown or being fired or affected by the pandemic, and income controversy.

Regarding the reasons for the government's refusal, 45% of the appellants said they "strongly disagree, it does not conform to the facts and does not conform to the information submitted"; 36% of the appellants said "disagree, there is no opportunity to submit additional information or explain"; 13% said "I don't know the reason, it's hard to understand"; only 3% said "I agree with the reason, but I am slightly beyond the conditions, and I hope to intercede."

Deng Jiabiao believes that this shows that the reason and process of the department's refusal to approve it is difficult to convince the public.

He also pointed out that most of the applicants appealed on the basis of the fact and were willing to make a declaration that they were eligible.

In addition, 66% of the appellants said that they knew that other colleagues in the same employer/company as theirs had the same situation but had been successfully approved, and believed that the situation that "the colleagues were approved, but they had no part" was unfair.

Deng believes that the above situation shows that the credibility of the approval standards and procedures is questionable, and it is unclear that there are many rejected cases.

Deng Jiabiao strongly appealed to the government departments to be lenient and expedite the processing of appeals, especially for workers who are truly unemployed or suspended for more than 30 days, and flexible for applicants with slight excess, fulfilling the promise of the plan and the people-oriented approach. Beginning.

He asked the government to allow all cases to be dealt with fairly and to grant unemployment support no later than June.
