It is the first time that a woman has held the mayor's office in Burggen.
After the election on May 8th, Sandra Brendl-Wolf took her oath of office in the municipal council.
Burggen – The oath of office has a deep meaning, it is not just a formula that one reads or repeats, explained Johann Welz, the second mayor of the municipality, who took over the business after an election was declared invalid, new elections and Josef Schuster's illness for a total of eleven months Had led.
Welz admitted that he was at odds at first.
But the oath helped him.
He therefore wished that Brendl-Wolf would take the oath "with respect and responsibility", which she immediately did.
"I'll remember your words, Hans," she promised.
And stated that she was looking forward to working together.
As the longest-serving municipal councillor, Stefan Schnack did not want to miss the tradition of speaking to the mayor.
But first he turned to Welz to thank him on behalf of the municipal council for the time and work he had invested over the past two years.
"It was not foreseeable that the office of deputy mayor would bring with it such a wealth of tasks."
Praise for the deputy mayor
Welz tackled problems with patience, perseverance and meticulousness and left things relatively orderly.
Last but not least, he also managed to get the municipal council back on track after initial problems.
He had anchored the awareness in everyone that one had to pull together.

Schnack congratulated the first mayor (“that hasn’t happened yet”) on the opportunity she took.
"Every new path offers challenges and the opportunity to grow with the tasks" - he wishes Brendl-Wolf that she grows well into the office.
The often complicated tasks have to be solved together.
Schnack also suggested to the new mayor that you don't have to despair if something doesn't work out at first.
"Amateurs built Noah's Ark, professionals built Titanic - we know how both stories ended."
A good study of the files, time and certainly also negotiating skills are necessary to guide the church ship safely through all the ups and downs.
"I wish you a lucky hand."
