Geretsried/Wendlingen – The Egerland traditional costume was named “Traditional Costume of the Year 2022” by the German Traditional Costume Association (DTV).
The title was recently handed over at the delegates' conference of the national costume day in Wendlingen am Neckar.
Representatives of the Egerländer Gmoi from Geretsried took part.

The DTV is the largest federal association for home care, traditional costumes and folklore in Germany, writes Volker Jobst, federal head of the Egerländer Gmoi, in a press release.
The award of the title "Traditional Costume of the Year" has existed since 2006 under the umbrella of the DTV.
"The application process began in 2016, in which the Bund der Egerländer Gmoin applied for this award with comprehensive documentation," the federal head continued.
It was handed over by Association President Knut Kreuch and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior of Baden-Württemberg, Thomas Strobl.
Jobst: "In his other role as state representative for expellees and late resettlers, Minister Strobl is well informed about the German expellees and their history and performance."

Afterwards, Ingrid Hammerschmied, from Geretsried and national costume warden, presented the eight traditional costume landscapes of the Egerland in partly different variations.
At the evening customs event, the Egerland was able to present itself again with a detailed presentation of traditional costumes, with traditional dances and songs as well as wisdom.
This part was designed by the Egerland-Jugend Geretsried and Stuttgart under the moderation of Geretsrieder Roland Hammerschmied.
The award of the title “Tracht of the Year 2022” goes hand in hand with participation in the national costume festival (15th to 19th June) in Bruck in der Oberpfalz and at the Gredinger traditional costume market on the weekend of 3rd and 4th June.

In Greding, the Bund der Egerländer Gmoin will once again present its traditional costumes and dances.
Furthermore, Egerland traditional costume parts, traditional costume fabrics and accessories will be offered and presented at a market stall.
