The Iranian news agency Tassanim reported today (Sunday) the assassination of a senior member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in the capital Tehran.
According to the report, the senior was killed in a shooting at his home by unknown individuals and a large force of police arrived at the scene of the incident.
To date, no one has been blamed for the assassination.
The news site Iran International, which is affiliated with the opposition in the country, claimed that the assassin was a Quds Force man, the international arm of the Revolutionary Guards.
The man was reportedly shot five times as he was leaving his home in his vehicle by gunmen.
It was further alleged that the senior fought in Syria during his service with the Quds Force.
