Extinguishing a fire in agricultural lands in the town of Jidiyah, Daraa

Elements of the Fire Brigade and the Directorate of Agriculture in Daraa, in cooperation with the residents, put out a fire that broke out in lands planted with wheat and barley in the town of Jidiyah in the northern countryside in the late hours of the night.

The Director of Agriculture, Engineer Bassam Al-Hashish, stated in a statement to SANA reporter that the fire, which broke out for unknown reasons, charged 250 dunams planted with wheat and 50 dunums planted with barley, stressing that the mobilization of government agencies and the local community resulted in extinguishing the fire before it expanded.

He pointed out that Daraa Governorate has developed an integrated plan to combat crop fires by equipping all mechanisms and tanks and distributing supporting mechanisms to agricultural areas. It also formed a joint operations room to deal with any fire that might break out.

The Director of Agriculture called on citizens to preserve agricultural crops and to assume their responsibilities to ensure the success of the harvest process and the supply of all production to approved marketing centers.
