Germany's NTV channel said that Europe should be more afraid of Russia stopping the "uranium tap" than the gas pipeline, which would have serious consequences for the West.

In a report carried by Russia Today, the channel clarified that the European Union relies more on uranium than on gas, and the talk is currently about a technological link that European nuclear power stations will not be able to bypass without causing serious damage to production, while experts warn that closing the “uranium tap” will lead to serious problems. Russia threatens to undermine the supply of electric power in entire countries.

The channel's report indicated that the European Union relies on Russian enriched uranium much more than it relies on natural gas because, according to some data, it buys about 40 percent of the enriched uranium necessary for the operation of nuclear power plants from Russia and Kazakhstan.

The report pointed out that many European nuclear power plant operators fear that Russia will stop supplying uranium to them because, according to experts, this will have serious consequences for the West.

For many years, Russia has been able to achieve success in improving the technological process of uranium enrichment. Russian facilities are considered among the best in the world in this field, in addition to the presence of Russian nuclear reactors in 18 countries in the European Union, including two in Bulgaria, six in the Czech Republic and two in Finland And 4 in Hungary and the same number in Slovakia.

The European Atomic Energy Association stresses that Europe in this area is highly dependent on Russia because pressurized water reactors must be replaced periodically, and they operate only with Russian-made spare parts.

It is noteworthy that many experts and even European politicians warn of the negative effects of European positions and Western sanctions against Russia, under the pretext of its special military operation in Ukraine, on the fate of Europe's economy and activities.
