The grand old lady of the district CSU is dead. Ingrid Frömming from Herrsching died on Friday evening at the age of 90.

Companions bow full of gratitude to the former Deputy District Administrator and party leader.

Herrsching – The invitation cards had already been sent.

On June 18, Ingrid Frömming wanted to celebrate her 90th birthday at the Andechser Hof in Herrsching.

Family, friends and companions should be with her for a few hours.

Corona had made it impossible to host the celebration on their anniversary, November 28th.

Now nothing will come of it.

On Friday evening, the former CSU district chairwoman, deputy district councilor, district, district and municipal councilor died in the hospital in Seefeld after a short, serious illness.

Six weeks after the death of former District Administrator Heinrich Frey, the CSU has lost another great personality.

"It's a great loss," says former District Administrator Karl Roth, who had been friends with Frömming for decades.

Born in East Prussia, she had to leave her homeland after the war.

Ingrid Frömming spent many years in Namibia, where she met her future husband Hans, who managed two farms in the country, as a so-called housekeeper.

In 1965 the family, which now included sons Heinrich and Fritz, returned to Germany.

They lived in Breitbrunn for a few years, later in Herrsching, where they set up a commercial agency that still exists today.

In 1972 the third son, Dietrich, was born in Starnberg.

At the same time, politics was Frömming's great passion.

In 1978 she was elected to the Herrschinger municipal council for the first time, to which she was to belong for 25 years.

In 1987 she became the first woman ever to chair the district CSU.

In 1990 she became a member of the district council and six years later became the deputy of the then district administrator Heinrich Frey for one electoral term.

Ingrid Frömming and then district administrator Heinrich Frey: For six years, from 1996 to 2002, she was Frey's deputy in the district office.

Frey died six weeks ago, on April 7th, at the age of 82.

"Your spirit continues to blow," says former District Administrator Karl Roth about the two big CSU personalities.

"She was a pioneer for the cause of women," says the acting chairwoman of the Herrschinger CSU, Fromuth Heene.

Until the end she was "interested, clear and friendly".

The recently elected CSU district chair Dr.

Ute Eiling-Huetig the deceased.

Frömming was "an incredibly fascinating personality" who had an incredible wealth of experience.

"Ingrid Frömming was the personification of female local politics," says Herrsching's mayor Christian Schiller.

Even if they didn't always agree politically, they still had a very close relationship and exchanged views to the end.

Frömming left a lasting mark, especially in the social and educational sectors, says Schiller, recalling her commitment to the new construction of the Christian Morgenstern elementary and middle school and the founding of the Friends and Friends of the Seefeld Hospital, in which she played a key role.

"She had her own will, but always tried to create a togetherness," says Schiller.

"Arguable and great" - Ingrid Frömming will remain unforgotten as a personality.

He is very grateful

“We had a good relationship right up to the end,” says District Administrator Stefan Frey.

Frömming was not only a close companion to his father, but also helped shape his own development and supported his election campaign until just before the pandemic.

She worked "intensely, with persuasiveness and a lot of empathy".

"She always hit the right note," says Frey.

Also with Karl Roth.

It was not least Ingrid Frömming who supported and encouraged him in the mid-1990s when he became mayor of Andechs, he says.

When he became Deputy District Administrator in 2002 as her successor, she "took him by the hand a bit and showed how district politics works".

With Ingrid Frömming, the grand dame of the CSU, and Heinrich Frey, the party lost two great personalities within a few weeks.

It is not yet certain when and in which district Ingrid Frömming will be buried.

"It will definitely be quite big," says her son Fritz Frömming.
