More than 120 international artists signed a letter condemning the crimes of the Israeli occupation entity and its serious attacks on international humanitarian law and demanded the imposition of sanctions on this entity for its attacks on the press and freedom of expression.
Telesur channel quoted the artists as saying in their message, which was published on multiple websites after the assassination of Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh at the hands of the Israeli occupation forces: “The killing of Abu Aqleh is a serious violation of international humanitarian law and an attack on the press and freedom of expression, which may constitute a war crime.” Many governments continue to fund and protect the Israeli occupation despite its grave violations of human rights against the Palestinians.
The artists denounced the "attack of heavily armed Israeli forces on Palestinian mourners and the soldiers' beating of mourners."
Among the artists who signed the letter are British musician Roger Waters, American actress Susan Sarandon and American musician Tom Morello.
