Two Bavarian pilots wanted to fly to Hungary together with their light aircraft.

For an unknown reason, the two collided over Austria - and crashed.

Reichraming – A 62-year-old from Bavaria wanted to fly from Altötting to Hungary via Austria with his 25-year-old son on Sunday (May 22).

They arranged to meet two men (61 and 74 years old) in the air in the Ried im Innkreis area, who started from Eggenfelden (Rottal-Inn district).

The two microlights then flew on together.

"In the Steyr-Land (Austria) area, there was a collision between the two aircraft for an unknown reason," said the Upper Austrian police.

After the collision near Reichraming, the two pilots had to activate the aircraft's emergency parachute "at an altitude of about 1,000 meters".

The screens slowed down the falls on the "Fahrenberg".

Bayern were still able to make emergency calls.

Both machines crashed into trees in the mountain forest, "were wedged in the process and came to a standstill."

One of the two planes got caught in branches 10 to 15 meters away.

"The two occupants had to hold out in their predicament until the mountain rescue team and the fire department's height rescue service arrived." Emergency services then roped down the two men.

The wrecks were salvaged by firefighters.

Several trees were felled for this.

"Fortunately, the four occupants were not injured."
