There was a large-scale police operation at the Lüdenscheid Steinert fair on Saturday.
A man was shot and later died in hospital.
Lüdenscheid – On Saturday, May 21, there was a large-scale police operation at the Steinert 2022 fair in Lüdenscheid: shots were fired at the entrance to the fair.
A 40-year-old was hit by a projectile.
He later died in hospital from his injuries.
This was announced on Sunday by the Hagen public prosecutor's office, the Hagen police homicide commission and the Märkischer Kreis district police authority.
Lüdenscheid: After a dispute – unknown people shoot around
According to current investigations, on the opening day at around 8:30 p.m. at the Hohe Steinert fairgrounds, there was initially a physical altercation between “a group of people who appeared to be from the south (6 people) and a 16-year-old from Lüdenscheid,” according to the joint press release.
About 20 minutes later there was another meeting at the main entrance of the fair, reports 24RHEIN.
