Latakia-SANA

After a hiatus of about 10 months, the Lattakia Poultry Establishment returned to work and breeding broilers within the plan of the General Poultry Corporation to invest the financial advance granted to it by the Council of Ministers in the production process.

On the 19th of last month, the Council agreed to grant a financial advance of one billion Syrian pounds to the General Poultry Corporation, with the aim of enhancing its ability to overcome difficulties, secure feed materials, ensure the continuation of production cycles, and increase production of eggs and broilers.

In a statement to SANA reporter, Dr. Sami Mahmoud Abu Dan, director general of the foundation, explained that the sheds in the Lattakia Poultry Facility were prepared and equipped to receive 24,000 chicks within the first phase approved by the Foundation to invest the grant in restoring the productive sector of the institution.

Abu Dan indicated that this production plan was adopted for the breeding of broiler chicks due to its absence from the establishment for several months and to contribute to the availability of the material in the market as a kind of positive intervention after the reluctance of a section of breeders in the private sector from breeding due to the high cost of feed, education costs and price fluctuations related to medicines and supplies.

Regarding the stages of work, Abu Dan pointed out that the first stage of the production process includes supplying the Saydnaya poultry facility with 29 thousand chicks about a week ago, while there are currently 24 thousand chicks in the Lattakia poultry facility, to be followed on the 28th of this month by downloading 30 thousand chicks to the Homs poultry facility .

Abu Dan explained that the corporation's production plan is currently being implemented to supply the market with the material so that there is a balance between supply and demand and the insurance of the healthy, safe and sound product at studied prices.

The director of the Lattakia Poultry Facility, Eng. Amjad Aslan, indicated that the production capacity of the facility is about 50 million eggs and 200 tons of broiler meat annually, but due to the difficulties caused by the blockade and the high production costs, especially feed, the production capacity of the facility decreased to 30%, as the institution currently produces 18 million eggs and 50 tons From the broiler, pointing to the importance of government support in restructuring the facility and preparing it to return to production in a more effective manner and increasing its role in securing market requirements of eggs and broilers.

For his part, the Secretary of the Damascus Chamber of Agriculture, Muhammad Janan, pointed to the importance of the partnership that currently exists between the Ministry of Agriculture, the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Agriculture and the Syndicate of Veterinarians to revitalize the productive process in poultry farming.

He pointed out that this participation contributes to providing awareness to the breeder about the preventive programs that must be followed, which reduces the number of deaths and provides healthy and safe material of broilers and eggs, which will reduce the financial burden on the breeders and encourage them to return to production.
