For the first time since the outbreak of the corona:
the traditional "Celebrate Israel" parade returns today (Sunday) to Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, under the sign "Together, Again".
Despite the uncharacteristic levels of heat, which have climbed to more than 30 degrees, tens of thousands of people are taking part in the sympathy parade, including New York Mayor Eric Adams, New York Governor Kathy Hawkle, U.S. lawmakers and Israeli ministers and MKs.
Among others, the Israeli government was represented at the event by four ministers: Defense Minister Bnei Gantz, Diaspora Minister Nachman Shai, Housing Minister Zeev Elkin and Aliyah and Absorption Minister Pnina Temano-Sheta.
Right-wing and left-wing MKs, including Ofir Akunis (Likud) and Gilad Karib (Labor), will also participate in the event, along with Israeli Ambassador to the UN Gilad Ardan and Consul General in New York Assaf Zamir.
Gideon Taylor, CEO of JCRC-NY, said that "this year's parade will mark a unity between all streams of the Jewish people and between Israel and the Diaspora, and will be a crushing response to the rise of anti-Semitism in the US and the fight against terrorism in Israel. "With each other, to walk the streets and demonstrate our support for the State of Israel."
