Not a soft landing: the flights are back and the violence is strong Israel today

Aircraft returning to their countries of origin due to riots • Smoking passengers on a flight • Threats and sexual harassment against security checkers • Airlines consider producing a "blacklist"

The sky opened up and with them the incidents we did not miss so much - the cases of violence on flights.

About two months ago, shortly after the skies opened, an El Al flight landed from Los Angeles to Israel in Spain, the reason being a rioting passenger.

Another similar case also occurred on an EL AL flight from Israel to the Czech Republic, when shortly after the flight, the plane turned around and returned to Ben Gurion Airport, also here because of a passenger who went wild during the flight.

Today the obligation to wear the masks was removed, an obligation that was difficult without a few passengers, especially on long flights.

The obligation to wear masks, Israeli flight attendants say, was a significant cause of quarrels, arguments and cases of violence between passengers.

At the end of Passover, a plane that was supposed to take off from Cyprus to Israel was delayed for several hours following a case of violence between passengers.

Similar cases have also occurred on flights from Morocco because of a passenger who smoked an e-cigarette and other flights to and from various destinations around the world.

The violence in the world of aviation and tourism does not begin and end in airplanes.

Employees of the Airports Authority, including the security inspectors, tell "Israel Today" about quite a few cases in which passengers threatened, harassed and behaved violently towards them.

Some of the cases also reached extreme situations that included the involvement of various security forces, including cases of sexual harassment.

If all this is not enough, there are also quite a few cases of violence in hotels, and one of them took place during Passover in a well-known and large hotel in Eilat.

The incident there ended with the arrival of security officials at the hotel, and frightened guests told "Israel Today" about a sleepless night and frightened children who were afraid to continue on vacation.

The tourism and aviation industry suffered a very severe blow during the Corona period, and now, with the lifting of most restrictions, there is a difficult deal with many cases of violence, so much so that Israeli airlines are considering producing a "blacklist" that those who enter will not be able to fly .

This procedure already exists in many countries, and may help reduce cases of violence in the industry.
