Some concern groups pointed out that patients with renal failure and their families generally have misunderstandings about living kidney donation, resulting in patients missing the opportunity for kidney transplantation.

A woman suffering from kidney failure said that the two sisters who had donated kidneys have been healthy for many years, and the three sisters appealed to the public to support living kidney donation.

In addition, some doctors said that citizens with different degrees of kidney disease should take appropriate exercise training, because exercise training can slow down the regression of kidney function, and high-intensity exercise can reduce the risk of end-stage renal disease by 35%.

Wu Miaomin (middle) shared the experience of kidney transplantation with her two sisters, Wu Miaozhuang and Wu Miaoqiong, who have donated kidneys for 36 and 6 years. Doctor: If the kidney function is good, one is enough to use

Dr. Ma Kam-man, Chairman of the Hong Kong Transplantation Society, pointed out at the event that kidney failure patients and their family members generally have several misunderstandings about living kidney donation. For example, dialysis patients usually do not want their family members to take risks, fearing that their health will be affected, and because their family members are different from their blood types, If you think that the transplant is hopeless, or you think your kidney dialysis situation is stable, you should not hinder your family.

Dr. Ma emphasized that kidney transplantation is the best treatment and can restore normal life for kidney patients.

She pointed out that many studies have shown that for kidney donors, as long as one kidney functions well, it is clinically sufficient and will not affect their health.

Dr. Ma also said that the arrangement of living kidney donation is very strict, and preoperative evaluation will be carried out. Even if the family members have different blood types, the above problems have been solved through the kidney matching donation program in recent years.

More exercise can slow kidney function decline

In addition, Dr. Chow Kai-ming, chairman of the Hong Kong Nephrology Association, said that citizens with different degrees of kidney disease should take appropriate exercise training.

A 1,200-patient study in the Journal of the American Medical Association or a 13-year study of more than 500,000 adults in Taiwan found that exercise training can slow the decline of kidney function, and high-intensity exercise reduces the risk of end-stage renal disease by 35%.

Dr. Zhou also pointed out that dialysis patients participating in aerobic exercise or muscle-building exercises have positive effects, including improving depression, improving leg strength and endurance of dialysis patients, and improving their walking ability.

In the past, belly-washing patients were worried that there would be belly-washing water in their stomachs, so they thought it was not appropriate to do exercise, and even regarded swimming as a taboo.

Dr. Zhou explained that as long as activities that do not increase intra-abdominal pressure, such as walking, hiking and jogging, do not need to drain the belly-washing water first. He said that as long as the water quality is good, and the patient is well cleaned and cared for the catheter port, kidney disease patients can also Enjoy swimming.

Zhou Jiahuan, honorary president of the Hong Kong Transplantation Sports Association, pointed out that since 2012, the association has held four Hong Kong Organ Transplantation and Dialysis People Games. All previous dialysis patients accounted for nearly 30%, and sports suitable for dialysis people include walking, darts, badminton , gateball and table tennis.

The association also organizes regular and unconventional exercise exercises, hoping to attract more dialysis patients to exercise.
