Author and theater director Louay Shana chose the story “Death of an Employee” from Russian literature by Anton Chekhov for his new theatrical show, which dealt with the phenomenon of fear in humans and considered the best example in the field of short stories, according to critics.
Chana embodied the scenes of the performance presented on the stage of the Al-Hamra theater, the lived reality and daily life, choosing the idea of fear and its negative effects on society, as it is a non-exceptional phenomenon that includes all human beings to varying degrees.
The show simulates the story of the famous death sneezing caused by a government employee, played by the artist Ali Al-Qasim, to sneeze on one of the officials, causing him to hysterically state of panic and unjustified fear for him despite his apology from the official. .
The author and director of the work, Louay Shana Bayn, told SANA reporter that the show contained many connotations and symbols that indicate the destructive consequences of fear in society, as it may turn into panic that kills its owner, stressing the work on the need to overcome fear and its damages.
Theatrical actor Ali Al-Qasim, who embodied the employee's personality, said in a similar statement: The work stems from the lived reality and presented social stories from the employee's daily life, expressing his happiness at performing this role.
The artist, Mohamed Salem, embodied the official’s personality and indicated that his experience in the death of an employee is the first with author and director Louay Shana, pointing to the participation of a group of young actors who are ascending for the first time on stage, presenting their creativity and artistic talents that enriched the work and enriched it with the spirit of youth, which confirms the need for a contrast generations on stage.
