- The announced renovation of Bairawieser Straße in Bad Tölz will begin next week.
As City Hall spokeswoman Birte Otterbach reports, work can begin after the municipal utilities have completed the expansion of the local heating network in Jahnstraße and the diversion via Bairawieser Straße has now been lifted.
On Monday, May 23rd, the construction site equipment will start there.
From the middle of next week, the road will then be closed between Jahnstrasse and the bottleneck in the lower area – for an estimated half a year.
During this time, traffic will be diverted via Jahnstrasse and Hindenburgstrasse.
Bairawieser Straße: New lane and sidewalks
"For structural reasons, the measure is divided into three sub-areas," reports Otterbach.
It will always be possible for local residents to drive into the street as far as the respective construction site.
If a property access road is not accessible for a short time due to connection or asphalting work, the residents would be informed in good time in advance.
In 2019, the sewer in Bairawieser Straße was renovated.
Now, according to Otterbach, the professional restoration of the roadway including ancillary areas and the construction of a sidewalk will follow on a section around 530 meters long.
Crossing area to Jahnstraße becomes safer
In the course of this, the crossing area to Jahnstraße and Höhenbergweg will be redesigned.
"This makes it easier for pedestrians and cyclists to cross at this point and, above all, barrier-free," emphasizes the town hall spokeswoman.
"At the same time, the speed of vehicles turning off Jahnstraße is reduced."
Five-year-old Poldi came up with an idea to save a chestnut tree that was supposed to give way at this point.
The southern crossing area Bairawieser Strasse/Nockhergasse/Hindenburgstrasse will be redesigned at a later date.
The conversion plans had previously met with protests from local residents.
