The commander of the Strategic Missile Forces, Sergei Karakaev, announced that the new heavy intercontinental ballistic missile "Sarmat" is "the sword of Russian retribution and revenge" and has features that warn enemies that the country is protected.
The RIA Novosti news agency quoted Karakayev as saying that this new Russian missile can fly across the north and south poles, as well as along other paths, adding that the new missile can easily bypass the hostile missile shield. The commander of the Russian Strategic Missile Forces expected this missile to remain in service for 50 years, considering that its characteristics warn the enemy that Russia is well protected.
Regarding the choice of the name of the missile, Karakayev pointed out that it is due to the Sarmatians, an Iranian tribe that flourished between the fifth and fourth centuries BC in southern Russia and was famous for its bravery and was armed with heavy and long spears and arrows, and had a straight sword that aroused terror in the hearts of the enemy.
