The city has made climate protection a priority - this could cause a delay in the renovation of the school on Hammerschmiedweg.
Wolfratshausen – The primary and middle school on Hammerschmiedweg is being extensively renovated and expanded.
Part of the measure was a groundwater heat pump – decided by the city council because of sustainability – to heat the building.
As it turned out, the municipality cannot implement this.
"The conditions for pumping and securing the groundwater in the construction site are unfavorable," the municipal building department recently informed the building committee.
School on Hammerschmiedweg: Sustainable heating could delay new construction
The planners of the heating system had examined various alternatives and submitted new ideas to the technical committee.
They favor a heating mix of surface geothermal energy and a gas combined heat and power plant.
The latter is necessary because the planners assume that the geothermal systems would not be sufficient to cover the entire needs of the school.

For this double solution, the city would have to reckon with an increase in prices of around 715,000 euros.
Geothermal energy met with approval in the committee, and protests were raised against gas heating.
The city wants to do without fossil fuels, according to Deputy Mayor Günther Eibl (CSU).
Green city councilor and environmental officer Dr.
Hans Schmidt pleaded for a more environmentally friendly solution.
Environmental protection in Wolfratshausen: No gas heating at the school
A new idea matured during the discussion: as a supplement to geothermal energy, the councilors wanted an air heat pump, which was more sustainable, at the suggestion of Richard Kugler (Wolfratshauser Liste).
The planners considered this solution possible.
However, they did not want to commit themselves to the resulting additional costs for the city.
The committee therefore agreed that the office should create a simulation in order to be able to forecast the demand and the energy yield of the two plants more precisely.
The building committee unanimously agreed on this course of action.
There is still one sticking point: The fixed schedule for the school renovation and expansion could be delayed due to the additional loop.
