The first damage from the storm is slowly becoming visible: as DB Regio Bayern announced via Twitter, there are numerous trees on the tracks.

There are significant restrictions, the S-Bahn traffic on the Neustadt-Aisch-Steinach and Bad Windsbach-Wicklesgreuth routes has to be completely stopped.

Severe weather in Bavaria: Warnings until the evening

Large parts of northern Bavaria, especially around Nuremberg, are currently colored deep red by the German Weather Service.

Severe storms expected in Bavaria: DWD expects heavy rain in Franconia

A cold front is approaching from the north-west in the afternoon, which is encountering subtropical, hot air, a spokesman said on Friday.

From the afternoon, heavy thunderstorms are expected in Franconia, peaking at 40 liters of rain per square meter, hail with a diameter of two centimeters and strong gusts of around 100 kilometers per hour.

In some parts of Bavaria there were storms during the night.

Overall, the storm that ripped through northern Bavaria turned out to be less severe than announced.
