Four people were killed in eastern Canada by violent storms that also left nearly 900,000 homes in Ontario and Quebec without electricity.
AFP quoted Ontario police as saying on Twitter that a person died after a tree fell on a trailer that was sheltering it in Brant, south of Toronto, and a 70-year-old woman who was walking through the storm died when a tree fell.
In the capital, Ottawa, a person died due to thunderstorms, and a woman in her fifties drowned when a boat capsized in a river separating Ottawa from Gatineau in Quebec due to the storm, according to Radio Canada, citing local police.
Radio Canada reported that the storm had cut off electricity to nearly 900,000 residents in eastern Canada.
