Investigators from the Crime Fighting Unit in the Jerusalem District continue to investigate the serious suspicions against the head of the "Lions of Judah" organization, which prepares young men and women for their military service.
A short hearing on his case recently ended in the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court, where, at the request of a police representative, the suspect's detention was extended by nine days.
The investigation began a few weeks ago as an undercover investigation, and a week ago became public with the arrest of the association's head Yosef Ohayon, a resident of the city of Jerusalem in his 40s.
After his detention was extended, YLP investigators worked to gather additional evidence and complaints against the suspect. The investigation reveals a difficult and complex picture of serious suspicions of serious sexual offenses by Ohayon, whose organization also operated in schools in Jerusalem.
During the hearing on the extension of his detention, the police representative said that some of the sexual acts took place within the schools themselves, in places that are supposed to serve as a safe and protected space for teenagers.
The police are investigating with the Ministry of Education how it happened that the suspect and the association managed to infiltrate the schools and operate there without supervision.
According to the suspect, the defendant presented an inaccurate resume and lied about his glorious military past, and the degrees he had earned.
Last week, a principal of one of the major schools in Jerusalem was questioned with a warning, on suspicion that he knew about the acts being carried out at his school and turned a blind eye.
