Corona threw a spanner in the works for many Christmas markets.
In Solingen, however, they didn't want to do without the magic of winter - even if it's already May.
Solingen - Santa Clauses, mulled wine and ice skating - and all in the middle of May.
At the weekend, visitors can stroll through a Christmas market at Burg Castle in Solingen (NRW).
Like so many markets, the market originally planned for December was canceled due to the corona pandemic.
Now he has been caught up.
On the former Oberburg sports field, around 60 dealers offered homemade goods and gifts, such as towels, handmade brushes or goldsmith work - all framed by Christmas music and Christmas trees.
Guests could enjoy ice skating and curling on an artificial ice rink.
Live music came from a Dutch band dressed up as Santas.
This time the storm had postponed the Christmas market
Again, external circumstances had caused a rescheduling: "Summer Christmas" was actually supposed to start on Friday, but the start had been postponed by one day at short notice due to the announced storm in Germany.
Storms and tornadoes caused millions in damage.
The event was then able to open as planned on Saturday morning, as a spokesman confirmed.
The market was already "in full swing" at noon.
