Collect kilometers, have fun: Wolfersdorf was at the start of the city cycle for the first time last year.

This year we are going into the second round - and this year again with a special feature.

There's good news for all walkers and joggers in Wolfersdorfs: the municipal cycling program has been expanded to include another feature - for those who don't like cycling.

Wolfersdorf

- Wolfersdorf is part of it again.

And after something very special for seniors was set up at Stadtradeln 2021, this year the program will be supplemented by another item - to the delight of all walkers and joggers.

When Wolfersdorf took part in the nationwide Stadtradeln campaign for the first time in 2021, the local initiator, municipal councilor Maria Holzmaier, did not want to exclude the seniors from this sporting project - and with the support of the municipal councilors and Mayor Anita Wölfle, added the sub-item "Village walk" to the competition. .

Not only were the cyclists able to cycle their daily routes for 21 days in as climate-friendly a way as possible and report the number of kilometers they had travelled, but also seniors according to the same principle – just on foot.

But where are all those who are fit but don't like cycling?

Maria Holzmaier was asking this question before registering for this year's city cycling.

And so the competition will be supplemented by another point this year.

"We've packed the whole thing under the umbrella event 'Wolfersdorf is moving', in addition to city cycling and village walks, there is now also the sub-item 'walking and jogging' for all non-cyclists," explains Holzmaier, who came up with the idea.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

In addition to the health aspect, the focus is on environmental considerations, she explains.

“It's not just a win for you if you sometimes leave the car behind.

It is a win for all community citizens when there is less traffic on the streets," says Holzmaier.

This year the campaign runs from June 26th to July 16th.

A period that is long enough to sensitize the participants to further integrate the new habits into everyday life even after the campaign.

And so "Wolfersdorf moves" stands for the joy of exercise outdoors, for promoting one's own health, reducing motor vehicle traffic, avoiding CO2 emissions, for lower fuel costs and - this is also a very important one for Maria Holzmaier Point – for an increase in community spirit.

Because again this year, groups will compete, for which you will diligently collect kilometers.

The campaign motivates the seniors to go out and meet like-minded people.

"Many older citizens were so enthusiastic about it that they would have liked to do the whole thing again in the fall," says Holzmaier.

A team always consists of at least two people.

Distances that are covered alone are also included in the rating.

"It was important to me that there was something for everyone this year, that everyone could take part - and we managed to do that," says Holzmaier.
