In Niederkleen, unknown persons steal four lambs from a pasture.

An animal is found around 25 kilometers away - there is still no trace of the rest.

Update from Sunday, May 22, 2:01 p.m .:

There is news in the case of the stolen four lambs from Niederkleen: On Saturday night, less than 24 hours after the animals disappeared from their paddock on the outskirts, the strongest of the lambs was on the Federal road between Grävenwiesbach and Usingen, found around 25 kilometers from the farm of its owner Max Textor, as reported by giessener-allgemeine.de.

A woman driving along there spotted the lamb, caught it and took it to the police in Usingen.

They gave it to a shepherd from the region.

He became aware of Max Textor's Facebook call and reported to the police in Giessen.

She, in turn, called the owner on Saturday morning (May 21), who immediately went to collect his lamb.

It was unharmed.

Langgöns: There is still no trace of three lambs

There is still no trace of the other three stolen lambs.

"Besides the joy that one of the four is back unharmed, there remains great confusion.

We can hardly explain what the motive of the perpetrators was.

It's strange," sums up Max Textor.

The kidnapped little lamb is now back with his herd and was immediately greeted with joy by his mother.

First report from Saturday, May 21, 10:13 p.m.:

Four little lambs were stolen from a pasture in Niederkleen.

Owner Max Textor is shocked by the audacity of the perpetrators or perpetrators.

Especially since they also endangered bystanders and the entire flock of sheep.

Textor got a call from his neighbor on Friday morning asking if any sheep had escaped.

Immediately he knew something was wrong.

"They don't run away," says the young agronomist, who runs a farm with his brother.

On his sheep pasture at the Kleebach not only several meters of electric fence were missing, but also four young animals.

"We found a lamb with its hind legs tied together in the paddock, perhaps the thieves were disturbed or the lamb escaped unnoticed," suspects the Niederkleener.

Langgöns (Giessen district): Truck drivers act carefully with animals on the road

Although the fence was electrified, the thieves severed it and removed a ten-meter segment, which they took with them.

In any case, Textor has not found the fence again.

The small shelter, in which the animals can find shelter from the sun and rain, was placed on its gable.

The remaining animals ran through the gap onto the road.

There, a cautious truck driver noticed the herd, drove them off the road and called Textor's neighbor in Niederkleen.

13 dams with 22 lambs, most of them born in early April, stood on the pasture.

"Now there are only 18 lambs, I don't want to know what happened to the four."

It's not the first animal theft: "Last year in September, a large lamb was stolen from us," says Textor.

He suspects that the animal was killed and eaten.

"We are shocked, horrified, angry and very sad," the young farmer gives an insight into his feelings.

Langgöns (Giessen district): lambs wear a plaque in their ear – the owner asks for information

Normally, lambs are not slaughtered until they are between six and 12 months old, "if at all," says the owner.

Herding sheep was initially a hobby for the family.

Even now they would not be making any profits.

However, the Textors want to enlarge the herd - and for that they need lambs.

The sheep are crossbreeds from the Suffolk basic breed that have been crossed with a Merino crossbreed, "that's why they look so different.

Today's animals are all descendants of my grandfather's breeding,” says Textor.

The sheep follow his word.

"That's why it wasn't a problem at all to catch the animals again this morning."

All young animals have a tag with the company number (DE GI 0090678) in their ear.

Even without this number, Max Textor is sure that he can identify his animals: »I would recognize them immediately from 100 lambs.« The financial damage is relatively irrelevant to him, but his heart is in the animals.

His urgent appeal: "Please listen and look around to see if anyone has seen or heard anything and please contact us or the Gießen police." Relevant information to the Gießen police on 06 41/70 06-0.
