Five people were killed and 27 others were injured today when a 10-storey building collapsed in the city of Ibadan, southwest of Iran.
The Iranian news agency IRNA quoted Deputy Governor of Khuzestan Ihsan Abbaspour as saying that 115 experts in emergency affairs from various cities in Khuzestan Province are continuing to work in cooperation with two rescue teams to excavate neighborhoods from under the rubble to secure and evacuate the collapsed area, noting that other buildings were evacuated from their residents until distance of 200 metres.
He did not indicate the reasons for the collapse of the building and the circumstances of the accident.
Local sources said that the severity of the accident was so great that it caused the neighboring buildings to shake.
