Paderborn – Some of the scenes that took place in Paderborn on Friday last week were frightening: A tornado hit the region at full force, and since then emergency services have had to repair major damage in the city of North Rhine-Westphalia.
And that is currently attracting onlookers, as the Paderborn police are now reporting.
"Incorrigible onlookers caused numerous police operations and calls for help from those injured by the tornado on Sunday.
The emergency services spoke of real sensational tourism," explains the authority.

The businesswoman had closed her shop around 4 p.m. on Friday.
Immediately after the tornado passed, a business neighbor reported that the shop door had been forced open by the storm and that everything in the shop was a mess.
The owner immediately went back to her shop and found that clothes worth several thousand euros had been stolen.
The police are urgently looking for witnesses.

After storms in Paderborn – homeowners and craftsmen complain about onlookers
Craftsmen and damaged homeowners also complained several times about onlookers who hindered the clean-up and repair work.
The work to repair the storm damage was still in full swing on Monday (May 23).
“In many places, the police provide support by blocking roads at short notice or securing dangerous spots.
There are still life-threatening areas.
Residents also have to be careful on private property, because many damaged roofs have not yet been secured,” according to the authority.

The city of Paderborn continues to accept requests for help for simple clean-up activities, preferably by telephone via the hotline 05251-880, and coordinates voluntary help from private to private," explains the city.

Internet platforms stated that they were collecting donations for the victims of the tornado on behalf of the city of Paderborn.
The city of Paderborn expressly emphasizes that it has not called for fundraising either online or in analogue form.
