The American newspaper, the Washington Examiner, confirmed that the United States would suffer a heavy defeat if it entered a major war with China over Taiwan, warning that this might change the foreign policy of many countries in favor of Beijing.
These analyzes came during an article by writer Tom Rogan today, after US President Joe Biden asked during a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Tokyo whether the US military was ready to participate in the defense of Taiwan in the event of an invasion by China, where Biden answered (yes), and Rogan says No matter how bold Biden's words are, they raise the question of whether the country's military is prepared to withstand such a severe test that failure in a potential conflict with China would be worse than losing Taiwan because it would shift the foreign policy of many countries in favor of Beijing.
Rogan explained that China has made great efforts to bring Taiwan into its sphere of influence, and it is not just about political moves, noting that Beijing for more than a decade has invested in developing and deploying military systems that will cut off US access to the island and the South China Sea.
The American journalist continued, "The US military and industrial, with the exception of the Marine Corps, has not expressed a desire to compensate (their failure) for the development of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in this direction, and setting aside legal questions about Biden's authority to militarily support Taiwan's defense without congressional approval, it is doubtful whether The U.S. military could have effectively defended the island and in this respect Taiwan’s military spending and military readiness remain insufficient.” Rogan concluded that, from now on, any U.S. campaign would have to focus heavily on extensive submarine warfare and limited air operations, and such a maneuver is almost certain today. It is noteworthy that after Biden answered in the affirmative for the entry of the US army into Taiwan to defend it and clash with the Chinese army, the White House quickly explained that President Biden meant supplying self-defense weapons to the island, not direct confrontation.
