The women's choir of the Liedertafel Erding celebrates its 25th anniversary.

At the anniversary concert, there is melancholy: conductor Andreas Steinegger is retiring after 19 years.

Erding – Charming finale and atmospheric anniversary concert: Andreas Steinegger conducted the women's choir of the Liedertafel Erding for 19 years.

On Friday evening, the dedicated musician and teacher, with his singers and some instrumentalists, performed a farewell serenade in the Heilig Blut girls' secondary school.

At the same time, the women's choir celebrated its 25th anniversary, which, thanks to the mild early summer evening, could take place in the open air in the school's theatron.

However, there was a short rainy interlude, as if even the sky wanted to shed a few tears of goodbye.

The varied evening of music was entitled "Best of 25 Years - Women's Choir of the Liedertafel Erding".

In addition to the choir, students from the girls' secondary school also took part.

A percussion ensemble could be heard and Hannah Loesch on the flute.

The piano accompaniment was provided by choir director Christine Gampl, who will succeed Steinegger, which was greeted with great applause.

The audience enjoyed the varied farewell serenade in the open air on Friday evening and was not deterred by a short rainy interlude.

You could hear finely sung melodies by Gioachino Rossini and Pablo Casals.

A composition by the contemporary sound artist Jürgen Golle entitled “How should I give an answer?” made people sit up and take notice. A choral piece that impressively deals with the destruction of nature.

Golle called it a "poem for equal choir, flute, timpani and percussion" and set texts by Hermann Hesse, the Sioux chief Sitting Bull and the tribal chief of the Sauk Keokuk and medicine man John Fire Lame Deer to music in his work.

Natural flute sounds rose into the sky, which mingled with the cawing of the crows in the nearby city park.

To the evocative beat of drums, the chorus sang, "Don't kill the trees, don't muddy the waters of our rivers, don't rip open the bowels of our earth."

At the same time, the onomatopoeic piece, which partly ended in chanting, told of people's longing for merging with nature.

Lovely, simple folk songs were also part of the repertoire before the women's choir set out to explore a land beyond the rainbow with "Over the Rainbow" and had a rendezvous with Mr. Sandman.

David Hamilton's quiet "Blessing for a Journey" came to an end before an encore was applauded.

After Andreas Steinegger had distributed many roses to the participants, he received a gift basket and a very special present: a farewell song by the singers, wrapped in a well-constructed choral movement: "Andreas is listening, oh what a pity that is, it was so beautiful.

Have a good time,” they said to the popular conductor.
