Biden's remarks about military intervention in Taiwan embarrass his aides

A number of US President Joe Biden's aides have expressed their shock over his statements he made during his visit to the Japanese capital, Tokyo, about the United States' intention to protect Taiwan militarily, bypassing his administration's declared policy on the situation in Taiwan.

And aides to the US president told CNN: That Biden, during his visit to Tokyo, put them in an embarrassing situation again, prompting them to immediately confirm that the administration's position on the situation in Taiwan has not changed.

This is not the first time that Biden has exceeded his administration's declared policy regarding the situation in Taiwan, as he had previously made a similar statement last fall, which prompted his aides at the time to reverse his position as well.

Earlier today, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin stressed the fact that Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory, expressing his country's displeasure and rejection of the US side's statements.

Wang stressed that China is ready to defend its national interests on the Taiwan issue and there is no room for complacency or concessions on matters concerning the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
