The coalition does not intend to put Justice Minister Gideon Saar's flagship law to a vote today (Monday) to limit the term of office of a prime minister for eight years, due to the lack of a majority of 61 supporters.
In light of this, the law is expected to get off the agenda.
As you may recall, a week before the recess, the coalition passed the priesthood restriction law on second reading.
Prior to the third reading, the opposition turned the vote into a no-confidence motion to prevent support for the joint list.
In light of this, the coalition decided to withdraw them from the bill.
According to the bylaws, in order to repeal the repeal of the law and continue the legislative process in the third reading - the government had to raise the law until today at midnight.
In the absence of a majority of 61, the government will not pass the law and it will fall.
If Saar wants to advance the law again, the legislative process will start from the beginning from first reading.
