The JEK in Eglharting shines in new splendor - It is still unclear how the Kirchseeon youth center will be operated in the future.

Kirchseeon/Eglharting

– It smells like fresh paint.

Everything is tidy.

The walls glow.

The youth center of the municipality of Kirchseeon in Eglharting was closed during the corona pandemic.

The municipality used the time to renovate.

At least a large part is now complete.

However, it is still unclear how the operation will be organized in the future.

The good news: The renovation was significantly cheaper than initially planned.

Cheaper than planned

The rooms are in the basement of the AWO children's home Spatzennest on Westring in Eglharting.

They can be used in many ways.

The electrical installation was renewed.

The kitchen is new.

Actually, around 46,000 euros were estimated for the renovation project and the municipal council also waved it through.

So far, however, only about half of the financial budget has been needed.

There are also government grants.

Variable setup

One of the most important points is that the facility was designed to be variable.

Among other things, wooden pallets were used, for example upright at the bar. It's similar on the stage.

The elements can be used both for events and as seating.

Everything can be changed, also because of the colorful cushions, which Mayor Jan Paeplow finds very comfortable when trying them out.

Saved and saved: furniture that was to be disposed of was picked up in Munich for the Kirchseeon youth center.

Fire brigade picks up used furniture in Munich

Other seating furniture comes from the office of a company in Munich.

They should be disposed of there.

The contact was accidental.

The local building yard and the fire brigade drove to the state capital and picked up the furniture.

Some savings again.

The colors match.

"That makes a difference," said the head of the town hall happily in the municipal council when the redesign was presented.

Local politicians are happy.

The project isn't finished yet.

Among other things, the sanitary facilities still have to be renovated.

Damaged tiles in the toilet are to be replaced.

Further painting work is also still on the agenda.

And the lighting should also change a lot.

Barrier-free access is to be created outside.

concept still open

The question of how the youth center should be operated in the future is still open.

Mayor Paepow wants to talk to the clubs that do youth work, among other things.

They should be involved.

"We have to think about how we can give the youth center back to the youth." That still has to be worked out.

"I'm really excited to see how it will be," said councilor Susanne Höpler (Greens) at the meeting.

"We've just had Corona behind us.

The young people had few opportunities to meet each other.” The committee also suggested allowing private parties in the rooms again.

Young people can also rent the rooms.

This has already been the case in the past.

Most recently, before the Corona break, a group of five young people ran the facility together with youth worker Marina Herceg.

The rooms had already been redesigned at that time.

Among other things, there were drinks at fair prices as well as pizza and pizza baguettes from the kitchen.

Incidentally, Kirchseeon has another youth room, namely on the upper floor of the former Holzland Kern at the railway bridge to the high school.

"We also have to think about something there," said the mayor when asked by EZ.
