20 years of senior center in Wartenberg: The house is well integrated in the middle of the village.

At the celebration, great praise was given to the employees who have done a great job during the pandemic.

Wartenberg

– The senior center Pichlmayr has existed in Wartenberg for 20 years, and that was celebrated on Saturday.

At the beginning there was an ecumenical service held by Pastor Elisabeth Schulz from the Protestant Church and Pastor Jozo Karlic from the Catholic community.

With regard to dealing with the older generation, Schulz explained: “You can measure a society by that.

That's why it's good that facilities like this senior center exist.”

In her short sermon, the pastor focused on the fourth commandment: "You should honor your father and mother so that you live long in the land that the Lord will give you." That was the pension insurance of the time, she said about the historical background of these words.

The older people could no longer work to provide for the clan and threatened to fall down.

"This commandment should put a stop to it." The same applies to children.

"The biblical texts say that every life is respected," Schulz said of Jesus' blessing of children.

Facility manager Gabriele Mundigl emphasized the downright superhuman performance of the employees over the past two difficult years: "Twelve-hour shifts were worked, vacation was postponed." Friendly applause underlined this praise for the staff.

Inge Rott was singled out as one of the driving forces in the house.

The third mayor, Bernd Scheumaier, remembered very well how the concept was presented at a town meeting 25 years ago.

The implementation was successful.

Managing Director Florian Pichlmayr confirms that it was simply right to build a small house right in the center.

He also addressed the workforce directly and thanked them for their commitment.

Some industries could have gone to the home office during the pandemic.

"Employees in nursing do not have this opportunity." With its 44 full-time inpatient places, the house was the tenth house in the group when it opened in 2002, and now there are 21 with a total of around 2000 residents and 1400 employees, reports Pichlmayer.

About the opening year 2002 he said: "At that time I was appointed managing director".

There were no more speeches, the Holzland brass band had already moved into position, the food was made ready to be served during the speeches, and the maypole also waited for it to be set up by the people wearing traditional costumes from Wartenberg with Schwaiben.

This shows that the store is very well integrated into the Wartenberg market, emphasized Mundigl.

She couldn't experience that anywhere else.
