North Korean leader Kim Jong Un without a mask was one of the coffin bearers at a senior harvest state funeral, North Korea's official news agency reported Monday.
Only recently has the state confirmed that the outbreak of the virus occurred in its territory.
Kim arrived yesterday for the funeral of Yun Chul Hay, a senior commander in the Korean People's Army and reportedly, Kim's mentor who prepared him for the leadership role before his father, Kim Jong Il, died in 2011.
The official news agency KCNA published photos of Kim, without a mask, carrying the coffin alongside other officers wearing masks.

Kim accused state officials of laziness that exacerbated the outbreak of variant Omicron in the country.
Over the weekend, KCNA reported that the plague is now "under control," and that the death toll "drops sharply daily."
