A new study suggests that a hug can make a difference for women.
Researchers looked at how 76 people responded to stress after a hug from a romantic partner in a study published in the journal Plos One. Women who were able to hug their partner showed decreased production of cortisol, the so-called stress hormone, compared to those that did not.
However, this show of affection does not seem to have the same result in men.
