Maria Probst is the new chairwoman of the Penzberg CSU.

She was elected leader of the local association on Friday evening with 35 out of 40 votes.

Maria Probst succeeds Nick Lisson, during whose time as chairman the worst crisis and the greatest triumph of the CSU fell.

On Friday it was said several times: It was a temporary farewell.

Penzberg – The new Penzberg CSU boss Maria Probst (41) is also chairwoman of the city council group.

She has been a member of the local parliament since January 2017.

At that time, she took over the mandate from Richard Kreuzer.

Her father Josef Probst used to be a city council member, but for the SPD.

The landscape architect has been running her parents' business with her husband for five years.

In the CSU local association, she was previously deputy chairwoman.

Maria Probst: Penzberg is neither red nor black, but colorful

"You are not only popular, but also recognized by the population and the city council," said Mayor Stefan Korpan (CSU), who suggested Maria Probst as Lisson's successor.

She is committed, reliable and invests a lot of time, he added.

In her speech, Maria Probst named climate change as well as the growth of the city and its consequences for the infrastructure as challenges.

She also took a dig: about a year ago, after the board elections, the SPD wrote on its website that Penzberg was red.

"Penzberg isn't red, but it's not black either, Penzberg is colourful." Only those who recognize this will be successful.

This is the key to successful city politics, said the new CSU boss.

Nick Lisson is resigning from all political offices

The stage at the general meeting on Friday evening belonged above all to Nick Lisson.

As reported, he will also leave the city council and district council in July.

He gives private and professional reasons for his withdrawal from all political offices.

For one, he became a father for the second time in November and wants to have more time with the family.

On the other hand, the journalist recently became head of programming at the Munich radio station “Gong 96.3” and is responsible for 40 employees.

In 2017, the CSU was threatened with a split, followed three years later by the great triumph

Lisson took over the CSU presidency in 2015.

Just two years later, the worst crisis in the history of the local branch occurred.

His predecessor André Anderl, Jack Eberl and Michael Kühberger left the party and parliamentary group in a dispute.

Federal Transport Minister and district chairman Alexander Dobrindt rushed to Penzberg specifically for the crisis talks.

This was at least indirectly discussed on Friday.

He wants a "boring gathering because we've been through so much," Lisson quipped.

He described the early days as follows: first a smile, then pity, later amazement and admiration, and finally envy.

"But I don't care, I'm damn proud of the strong team today." At the end of his speech he came back to it again.

It was an “incredibly serious crisis” for the local association.

He didn't believe

"From the point of view of the CSU, Penzberg was a hopeless case"

The triumph followed in 2020: Penzberg's CSU won the mayoral election for the first time with Stefan Korpan and at the same time became the strongest city council faction.

District Administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß and member of the state parliament Harald Kühn, both CSU, emphasized the election victory in 2020 in their short speeches on Friday.

Jochner-Weiss praised Lisson for making the CSU what it is today.

Kühn said that Penzberg was "a hopeless case from the CSU point of view".

Lisson made history with Stefan Korpan and the local chapter.

He was shocked when he heard about Lisson's departure, said Kühn.

He threw every conceivable argument into the balance to change his mind.

Korpan pointed out that the greatest success was that a community had emerged.

Lisson kept the team together and motivated.

He always gave 100 percent.

Successor Probst underscored this ("Five years ago we went through hell").

Lisson "always managed to inspire us" and was bubbling with ideas during the campaign.

On Friday it was also said that it should only be a temporary farewell.

"You promised," Korpan said.

"You're coming back, I'm looking forward to that," says Jochner-Weiss. And Kuhn added when that will be, "you and your family decide."
